The Difference Between Icr and Heart/Radio Suffolk

Comparing a National and a Regional Radio Programme.

A regional radio station differs from a national radio station as a regional radio station only has the news and traffic reports from things happening in and around that area. Also regional stations have songs from local artists who are not proffesional and are not in and around the music charts.
Also the news and traffic reports are more detailed on a local programme as somedays not much will be happening in a local area so they have more time to talk about the smaller things that are happening in that area at the time.
The local stations do this so that it gives the local artists a chance to show off some of their work to people so that they might be able to earn a recording contract also by doing this they might get people listening to the station at that time to ring in and buy some of their CD's that is if they like their type of music . Also a regional station has more detailed news and sports bulletins about the local events.
Where as a national radio station covers things from around the world and has songs that come from other countries as well as Great Britain. Also national radio stations would give you traffic reports from all around the UK. They also have a larger record library to select there music that they play on there radio station from.
Regional stations are more likely to have more competitions from which listeners can win prizes. Another way in how regional stations differ from a national station is that a regional station has more unknown reporters who are from local areas to near that station. Where as on a national radio station all the reporters and disk jockeys are more well known then ones on a local radio station.
On a regional station you can only listen to it if you are in that area where as in a national radio station you can listen to it where ever you want and you should not have an interferance with your reception that you will be getting on your radio.
Also on a regional station you will only get ads that are from that local area also you will get local helplines. Where as on a national radio station you will get ads from all around the world and you will national helplines which you will have to call if you want any more information on these different adverts that will be played during the various shows through out the day.

Internet Radio Research

Internet Radio is now very popular due to the success of the Internet and faster connections allowing streaming to happen virtually un-disturbed. Internet radio is good as it can either be delievered via podcast or via live streaming where you can just listen in live just like you would with a normal, so this is the closest you will get to the normal conventional way of listening. With a podcast you can download it and listen to it as many times as you like. Also with all the new technology you can access a new listen again feature which means if you miss a show the first time you can still listen to it again on the internet and once again like podcasts you can download them and listen to them as many times as you like. If you listen to an internet radio show via live streaming you will find that they don't usually contain advertisements due to very low/no running costs. Another good thing about Internet Radio is that it requires no formal training so anyone can do it, and it is a very good way for young up and coming presenters/djs to get there foot into the door and make a name for themselves in the business.
